4. The Tournament Qualification Period

The Tournament Qualification Period will be conducted from February 22, 2008 through March 14, 2008. If you attempt to compete under more than one gamertag you will be disqualified.

(a) Competing in the Tournament Qualification Period

Games during the Tournament Qualification Period will be conducted on an online head-to-head basis where the object is to score as many points as possible over the length of the Tournament Qualification Period. The number of points a player earns depends on player's ability to play the Game and the quality of the player's competition. The number of points earned and the player's rankings are calculated using a version of the ELO rating system in which the points awarded will depend on the quality of the competition. Visit http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ELO_rating_system for a complete description of the ELO rating system. Players who play and beat other players who are closely ranked to them will receive fewer points than when they play and beat other players who are ranked significantly higher than them. Thus, for a player to increase his/her ranking, a player should challenge and beat those players with a higher ranking.

In order to qualify, you must play a minimum of 10 online ranked games before the end of the Tournament Qualification Period. There is no limit to the number of games you can play during the Tournament Qualification Period. In the ELO ranking system, each time you win, your ranking will increase. During the Tournament Qualification Period, Sponsor reserves the right to lower the minimum number of games required to qualify to ensure the Tournament is filled to capacity.

(b) Checking in for the Tournament

On March 14, 2008 (the last day of the Tournament Qualification Period), all players are required to "check in" for the Tournament by going to the Tournament website at (http://virtualfinal4.2ksports.com) and clicking "Check In". Any player that fails to check in during this period from Friday, March 14th at 12:01 am ET to Sunday, March 16 at 10pm ET will NOT advance into the Tournament, and will forfeit his/her spot in the Tournament. Upon forfeiture, the Tournament spot will go to an alternate, based on Tournament rankings.

IMPORTANT: PLAYERS WHO PLAY THE MINIMUM 10 GAMES TO QUALIFY SHOULD CHECK-IN REGARDLESS OF RANK.

(c) Qualifying for the Tournament

At the conclusion of the Tournament Qualification Period, all players will be ranked using the ELO system. At a minimum, the top 256 players who have checked in will advance to the Tournament, and depending on the number of players during the Tournament Qualification Period, the number of qualifiers for the Tournament will be expanded up to 2,048. Sponsor reserves the right to increase the final qualification number based off final registration and qualification participation.

Qualification ranks will be used in determining the order in which players draft his/her NCAA teams as well as where players are placed in the brackets for the initial and subsequent phases in the online Tournament. Player's qualification rank will also serve as an important tie breaker in determining which four (4) players compete in the Finals Competition. Tournament qualifiers will be notified by email within 2 days after the Tournament Qualification Period is completed.

5. The Tournament Period

(a) All Tournament qualifiers ("Qualifiers") will be divided into smaller groups of 64 players who will compete against each other in their own virtual "mini-tournament" ("Mini-Tournament"). Qualification rank will be used to determine each Qualifier's assignment to a particular Mini-Tournament. Qualifiers will be notified of their Mini-Tournament assignments by email shortly after assignment and no later than March 17, 2007. The Mini-Tournaments will be conducted under the supervision of an Administrator whose decisions are final.

After the Mini-Tournaments have been assigned, and the real-life NCAA team selections have been made, the virtual Tournament Draft (or Team Selection) begins. At that time, Qualifiers will receive an email notifying them that they can login and Set Draft Preferences on the Tournament web site at http://virtualfinal4.2ksports.com. Qualifiers will be given 24 hours to setup their NCAA draft preferences ("Draft Preference Period"). This process allows each Qualifier to rank the NCAA teams that have made it to the real-life NCAA Tournament from most-preferred to least-preferred.

At the conclusion of the Draft Preference Period, the AutoDraft will commence. In order of qualification rank, each Qualifier will draft one (1) NCAA team that Qualifier competes with in the first round of his/her respective virtual Mini-Tournaments. (The highest ranked Qualifier picks first, the lowest ranked Qualifier picks last.). This will continue until each Qualifier is assigned one team from the real-life NCAA tournament bracket. The Mini-Tournament match-ups will mirror the match-ups from the real-life NCAA Tournament bracket. (For example, if Duke and Wake Forest play each other in the real-life NCAA Tournament, the Qualifiers who have chosen those two teams will compete in the first round of the virtual Mini-Tournament as well.)

(b) Once all First Round Mini-Tournament games and all real-life First Round NCAA Tournament games are completed, the AutoDraft engine will once again reassign teams based on player draft preferences, qualification rank, and which NCAA teams have moved on the next round of the real-life NCAA Tournament. (Qualifiers are allowed to change their draft preferences throughout the course of the Tournament.) This process repeats itself in each round until there is only one player remaining in each of the four virtual NCAA Tournament regions. (See rules 8, 9 and 10 for game play instructions and scheduling for the Tournament.) Qualifiers will advance in the Tournament rounds as long as they continue to win. Qualifiers who lose will be eliminated from further play.

(c) 4th, 5th and 6th Round: March 29th
The 4th round follows the same format as the 2nd and 3rd round. However, by winning a 4th round match-up, you will be declared the winner of that region and advance to the Final 4® of your bracket. The winners of the 5th round game will advance to their bracket championship. The 6th round will determine who will play in the Speed Tournament the following day. If you advance to the 5th and 6th round, you will be assigned the same team that you played with in round 4. Round 4 will start at 11 am EST , round 5 will start at 2 pm EST and round 6 will start at 5 pm EST. Participants who win their brackets will participate in the Speed Tournament the following day on Sunday, March 30th, to decide who will be flying to San Antonio to compete in the tournament finals at the real-life Final Four®.

(d) Speed Tournament: March 30th
At the completion of all Round 6 games, the remaining 16 participants will compete in a Speed Tournament on Sunday, March 30, 2008 to determine who the four finalists will be for finals in San Antonio . The Speed Tournament will consist of two (2) Elite 8 brackets. There will be a draft at the start of the Speed Tournament and you will play with this team throughout both rounds of the speed tournament. The first round of the Speed Tournament will begin on March 30th at 11 am EST. The second and final round will start on March 30th at 2 pm EST. After two rounds are complete, the two remaining players in each speed tournament will be chosen as our four finalists to compete in the live Final Competition. In the event of a disqualification or inability to attend the final event, the highest ranked player eliminated from the last rounds played will be substituted into the Tournament.

6. The Finals Competition

The four (4) Finalists will compete in live head-to-head competition in San Antonio, Texas, from April 3, 2008 to April 8, 2008 in the Finals Competition.
